Oh man, I just stumbled on this amazing recipe for Mee Bandung! My mouth is already watering just thinking about it. First of all, let me show you what it's supposed to look like:

Ingredients:

  • 1 packet of yellow noodles
  • 1 can of sardines in tomato sauce
  • 1/2 cup of bean sprouts
  • 1/2 cup of sliced cabbage
  • 1/2 cup of sliced carrots
  • 1/2 cup of sliced long beans
  • 2 cloves of garlic
  • 3 shallots
  • 1 inch of ginger, sliced
  • 1 tablespoon of chili paste
  • 1 tablespoon of tomato paste
  • 1/2 teaspoon of dried shrimp paste
  • 3 cups of water
  • 1 tablespoon of cooking oil
  • Salt and sugar to taste

Instructions:

  1. Boil the yellow noodles until they're cooked to your liking. Drain and set aside.
  2. In a blender, blend together the garlic, shallots, and ginger until they're smooth.
  3. In a wok, heat up the cooking oil and fry the blended mixture until fragrant.
  4. Add the chili paste, tomato paste, and shrimp paste to the wok. Continue to cook until the oil separates from the mixture.
  5. Add the sliced cabbage, carrots, and long beans to the wok. Stir-fry until the vegetables are cooked through.
  6. Add the water and bring it to a boil.
  7. Add the sardines in tomato sauce to the wok. Stir well and let it simmer for a few minutes.
  8. Add salt and sugar to taste.
  9. Add the boiled yellow noodles and bean sprouts to the wok. Toss everything together until the noodles are coated in the sauce.
  10. Serve hot and enjoy!
